A Study on the Present Matters of a Junior College of Nursing


Abstract
Nursing education has two major matters to be equal to the social responsibility of a professional man and to cope with the social needs of the times efficiently.
The purpose of this study is in helping nursing education to bring up the desirable nurses whom s i ciety needs through analyzing and examining the present matters of a junior college of nursing.
Making the subject of inquiring professors of science of nursing, students of nursing colleges, nu ing administrators and nurses for two periods, from May 1, 1984 till May 30, 1984 and from June 21, 988 till July 5, 1988, these results were obtained.
To the unification of nursing education, more than 70% of all agreed. Respectively the professors .nd the administrators agreed to it for the reason of the matter of elevating the standard of nursing, the stud: nts for the burden -some curriculum .and the nurses for the matter of elevating the standard of nursing had problems at work (that is, the matter of harmony among co-workers).
To the distinctive system in the licences and parts to the school career, more than 50% of the professors and more than 70% of the others opposed for the reason of the dispersion of nurses¢¥ power, he discord among them and the difficulty in distinguishing their duties. Those who agreed to it referred to the establishment of the nursing system with `distinction in the duties to the school career.
More than 50% of the professors and the students objected to the establishment of related departme is in the junior college of nursing without a clear reason.
But the others agreed to it for the joint use of books and machines and materials and broad relatio s among students and the cooperation on the field.
For the further studies, more than 70% of the students and the nurses wanted to be admitted to a fo racademic year college because they like to be taught more and not to be discriminatively treated.
The students were discontented with a lack of facilities and heavy curriculum in their college life. More than 40% of the professors, the students and the nurse said lacking the learning competence for the pefformance of nursing.
The professors indicated that the junior college of nursing lack their facilities to bring up professional nurses, or do so considerably. Also they pointed out that the serious problems on managing the curriculu are insufficent field study, education to prepare for the state examination rather than professional education and a lack of optional subjects according to students¢¥ aptitude.
